Project Kevin Is Sexy Personified

I've been to Project Kevin four times now. The venue changes. The DJs rotate. The crowd always goes hard. Some things are consistent. Before I went, three different people described Project Kevin to me three completely different ways. They were all correct.

Someone called it a warehouse party. Another person said underground rave. One person just said "you'll see" — which, in hindsight, was the most accurate description of all.

Project Kevin is a large-scale queer electronic music event in São Paulo, and it has the kind of reputation that travels. People fly in for it. People plan trips around it. And after attending four times, I understand why.

— THE SPACE —

Kevin moves venues, but the energy stays the same — massive, industrial, immersive. This last edition was a 23-hour, fully indoor-outdoor, and at peak capacity they had an estimated 5,000 people moving through it. The sound system hits you before you even get inside.

There's usually an upstairs dark floor where the vibe shifts significantly. You can look over the main dance floor from up there, which I personally enjoy. But this time, they had an entire dance floor in its own section that could fit 1,000 people. I'll leave the rest of what happens in that dark warehouse/dancefloor to your imagination, or your personal experience. But I will say, watching people lose themselves in a techno-house-dance mashup at 6am is its own kind of spiritual experience.

— THE PRIDE EDITION —

This time was the Pride edition, and I came in loaded. I'd been at another party earlier in the night — so by the time I walked through Kevin's doors at 6am, I was already in a full altered state of celebration. Horny. Happy. Ready.

The music that night was a mashup of techno, house, and dance that I can only describe as relentless in the best possible way. It's rare that I close a party out. Before I knew it, it was 9am. I have no regrets.

— WHAT I WORE —

The look was a full Chris Habana build, customized for my Grindr collab — so yes, the crotch is a Grindr logo chastity belt. That's intentional. Look at it.

The harness was two figures connected by metal beads and leather shoulder straps. The necklace — spiked penises in sterling silver, because subtlety has its place and this wasn't it. I finished with Tom Ford leather cologne, because how I smell needs to tie into how I look. Military Nike boots. A full kit Sir leather hat. An All Saints motorcycle jacket over all of it.

Getting dressed for Kevin isn't an afterthought. The fashion at this party is part of the conversation — people show up with intention, and you feel it in the room. Nothing looks like a costume. Everything looks like a choice.

— SHOULD YOU GO? —

If you're visiting São Paulo and you love electronic music, queer spaces, or just being in a room where 3,000 people all decided to fully show up — yes. Add it to your list immediately.

Wear whatever makes you feel like yourself. Drink water. Don't plan an early exit, because São Paulo will laugh at you for trying.

You go in expecting a party. You come out with a story.

Kevin is always one of those stories.
